Supporterintervjuet: Før Oxford United (H)

Tom Saunders tror Pompey tar tre viktige poeng hjemme mot Oxford på lørdag.

SUPPORTERINTERVJUET: Denne gangen er supporterintervjuet på engelsk. Tom Saunders, vår medlem nummer 80, har bodd i Stockholm de siste årene, men er fra England. Han var også over i England på juleferie denne sesongen, noe han forteller mer om i intervjuet under:

It was 8th place last season. What are your thoughts on Pompey’s performance in 2022/23?

– Just a terrible year, wasn’t it? I think like most, I really liked the Cowleys to begin with and wanted it to work for them but they ultimately inherited a bad situation. The shining light was bringing in Hughes and Mousinho, but one to forget on the playing side.

What were your thoughts and expectations for this season?

– I must admit, I didn’t think we would be where we are today. I predicted us for a play-off finish at the start of the season but the signings in the summer and January have exceeded expectations.

Which teams do you think will be promoted from League One this season?

– What do you think of Pompey’s season so far? It will be between us, Derby and Bolton. When looking at the fixture lists I’m going to go for Pompey and Derby top 2 and Bolton through the playoffs.

Are you planning to make a trip over to see Pompey during 2023/24?

– I already did over Christmas and picked the worst time! 1-1 against Fleetwood at home, followed by an away trip to Exeter (6 hours each way from London) to see us draw 0-0. Thankfully it was my father’s last ground to finish his 92 which made it special, but probably best if I stayed away for a while!

How do you keep up to date on Pompey (matches and news)?

– Online Forums.

Do you have any favorite players in today’s Pompey squad?

– Lane and Kamara is a dynamic wide midfield this year, but I’ll have to give it to Robertson before he got injured – what a player!

What are your thoughts on John Mousinho and his coaching staff?

– What a brilliant find Mousinho has been. He’s done unbelievably well considering he was playing a year ago with no experience. Exactly what we needed and it’s great to see the future strategy by Portsmouth. Special shoutout for Hughes too- he’s done brilliantly in the transfer window.

Now it’s Oxford at home. What are your thoughts on this match, what is your starting eleven and how do you think the match will end?

– Oxford are in a bad run of form and we were unlucky in the second half at their place. I’m going to go 3-1 Pompey. Lane, Kamara and Yengi on the scoresheet.

Although we have a website with a lot of activity and everything written there is shared on social media, there has been very little activity among our members in recent years. What are your thoughts on that and what can be done to get more activity and interaction among our members?

– I am not really on Facebook so probably badly advised here! Maybe a physical meet up in the future would be fun?

Do you have anything else you would like to say to the rest of the Scandinavian Pompey supporters?

– It’s almost summer!! Play up Pompey!
