MENINGER: Vår medlem nummer 39, Michael Pantling, er bosatt i Danmark, men pleier å reise over til England for å se Pompey flere ganger i sesongen enn noen andre av våre medlemmer.
Han deler jevnlig sine tanker og meninger om Pompey med oss. Denne gangen ser Michael på Pompeys flotte start på sesongen.

The Table Does Not Lie
Not only are Pompey top of the table, they are unbeaten, plus Manager of the Month award.
This is all very impressive, but there is a long way to go.
While I have frequently thought that Pompey were good enough to obtain a play-off place in recent years, this season is different. Pompey have shown themselves to be far more resilient – there have been an astonishing number of games where Pompey have come from behind to win or at least draw with some very late goals.
The defence seem particularly robust with a very few goals conceded whilst we are scoring plenty. What more could a fan ask for.
The table also looks quite different to what I had expected with both Wigan and Reading struggling and Derby having a bit of an indifferent start.
Oxford are in my opinion the biggest surprise as our (current) principal challenger. Barnsley are not that far behind and are currently the league’s highest scorers with the same goal difference as Pompey.

What I am hoping for is that Pompey can do this season what Plymouth did last season and simply keep the momentum going. I believe that Pompey are showing the same sought of consistency.
We seem to have a good squad with adequate cover for injuries and suspensions and perhaps with the exception of Bishop, are not over reliant on individual players. There are few who are “guaranteed” a start and such healthy competition can only be a good thing.
It will be interesting to see if Pompey seek to reinforce their squad in the January window with maybe a proven striker just to bolster things a little. I suspect this will very much depend on where we are in December and if we are still averaging the all important 2 points per game.
It is all rather exciting, and I am very much looking forward to my next trip to Fratton (to see Charlton). I found it easy enough to buy a single ticket online quite a while after they became available but, the choice was quite limited.
