En overraskende ansettelse

Pompey overrasket alle da de valgte å ansette uerfarne John Mousinho som ny hovedtrener.

NYHETER: Det var mange velkjente navn som var linket til managerjobben i Pompey. Det var også mange velkjente navn som var på intervju. Stor var derfor overraskelsen da nyheten ble lekket om at Oxford-spilleren John Mousinho (36) var den Pompey hadde konkludert med skulle få jobben.

Mousinho spilte sin siste kamp for Oxford i november og har etter at han i 2021 fullførte sin trenerutdannelse (Pro License) vært klar på at han ønsker å prøve seg som manager/hovedtrener. At hans første jobb blir i en så stor klubb som Pompey overrasket både han selv, media og Pompey-fansen.

Pompey-supportere i sosiale medier tok ikke godt imot nyheten om at det er Mousinho som får jobben med å overta etter Danny Cowley. Hans mangel på erfaring gjør at dette kalles gambling, og det er det vanskelig å være uenig i. Å snakke om at Pompey styrer mot nedrykk med denne ansettelsen, slik enkelte gjør, er derimot krisemaksimering.

Flere av lagene som har hatt suksess i League One og League Two de siste årene, har gjort det nye og urutinerte managere. Mousinho omtales som en lederskikkelse og en som er veldig flink verbalt. Han er svært godt likt i Oxford og mange supportere uttalte at de skulle ønske han tok over Oxford i stedet.

Nå er det viktig at supporterne står bak Mousinho og klubben og gir ham en sjanse.

Mousinho er leder for spillernes fagforening (PFA), men må si opp denne jobben nå som han er blitt Pompeys nye hovedtrener. Hans navn får de fleste til å tenke på managerlegende Jose Mourinho, og John Mousinho har da også noe til felles med den portugisiske Roma-manageren. John Mousinho har familie fra Portugal. Han er født og vokst opp i London, men familien på farssiden er fra Lisboa-området.
