Henter forsvarsspiller fra Bristol City

Pompey kjøper forsvarsspiller Ryley Towler fra Championship-laget Bristol City.

«This is a massive club and just being a football fan, you know how big Pompey is. I’m delighted to be here. Of course it was a huge decision because I’ve supported Bristol City since I was a kid. I went from sitting with the fans to playing for them.

But sometimes you have to move on to kickstart your career. I’d heard there was a bit of interest, so you’re obviously going to think about it. I know how big the fanbase is here – with more than 18,000 coming the other day – so I can’t wait to play in front of them.

I’m a left-sided centre-half who is hard-working and honest. I like to defend, but also play on the ball, hitting diags and stepping in. I’ll have my first training session on Monday and look forward to meeting a new set of lads. I want to play as many games as I can and help the team.”

Kommentarer fra Pompeys sportsdirekte Richard Hughes

«We’re delighted to get the deal over the line and sign a player with the profile of Ryley. When it broke earlier in the day that we were interested in a deal, I’m sure there were a lot of clubs kicking themselves that they weren’t able to act sooner. Having someone with his skillset and ceiling to progress is great for this football club, so it’s nice to have him on board.

He’s a left-footed centre-back with good mobility and athleticism, as well as a lovely range of passing. Ryley is someone we’ve been watching and he’s had good experience out on loan, doing well at Grimsby and AFC Wimbledon. We think that this is a natural progression for him to continue his development and we believe the fans will enjoy watching that.”
