Portsmouth manager Danny Cowley:
“We knew that Cheltenham were a threat from throw-ins, but we didn’t react well enough and conceded a really soft goal.
“When you’re playing against such a resolute side and they go ahead, they move to a back five and make it very difficult for you.
“But we responded – it took us a little bit of time, but we did. We scored the equaliser and then just lacked a bit of quality in the second half.
“That’s ultimately why we didn’t win the game. There were maybe three clear-cut chances and we need to take them.
«This was a game we desperately wanted to win and if I’m being totally honest, I just want better for us.»
“There’s a positive that we created them and I certainly couldn’t fault the intensity or the commitment of the players.
