2020-21: Bristol City – Portsmouth 2-1 (FA Cup)

“We’re frustrated to lose a game that we had quite a lot of, especially after giving a good Bristol City side plenty of problems. But when you get into the positions we did and create those chances, then you have to capitalise on them. We played well in the second half – up to a point. You need to finish those opportunities off to have something to hang on to in the latter stages. That didn’t happen and I was right behind what was an outstanding strike from Martin to get the winner. We’ve had a good spell of training and the players have been able to keep into their routine, despite the gap between games. They were buzzing to get back. That’s what I expected and I never thought there would be a hangover.”

“Curtis had been feeling a bit rough over the past 48 hours and so we didn’t bring him with us. He did have a negative Covid test during the week, but you don’t want to take any chances, so we’ll probably retest him tomorrow. Hopefully he’ll be able to get over things pretty quickly and will be available at least by next weekend. Alex Bass was also missing after getting a dead calf following a collision with Haji Mnoga in training. We’re hoping he’ll be okay for Tuesday.”
