We never lose at Fratton Park.

Portsmouth manager John Mousinho:
“I can’t remember being involved in a game like that in 20 odd years of football. It was just crazy at the end.
“It was a boost to be able to bring on Shaughs and it wasn’t just about giving him minutes – he made a real difference with his aerial dominance at both ends.
“We’d then held out for so long and defended so well, so we had our heads in the bin when Charlton equalised.
“To go straight up the other end and score – and I didn’t really see the build-up, just the ball going in the back of the net – was a surreal moment.
“I was asking the fourth official why the extra time had been added, but quickly gave him a contrite glance when we got our second.
“There was an ecstatic feeling in the dressing room afterwards and that’s something we haven’t had too often this season, so hopefully we can build on it.
“We don’t have an obsession with league position at this stage of the season, but it was important to reel other sides in.
Charlton manager Nathan Jones
“I think it would have been a travesty if we’d only drawn the game, but to lose it in the manner we did makes me feel sick to my stomach. For large spells I thought we were excellent.
“We caused real problems, silenced the crowd and looked a real threat. With a little more quality in the final third we would have gone in ahead at half-time. In the second half we created some wonderful opportunities. Their goalkeeper has pulled off an unbelievable save from Conor [Coventry] or Burkey [Reece Burke], I’m not sure which, and we had other chances as well.
“Then we concede from a really poor corner. We very rarely give goals away like that, but we did. We kept pushing and eventually got what we felt was the minimum we deserved, and then to switch off like we did at the end is crazy, absolutely crazy.
“I’m gutted, because they should never score from there. We have to defend it better, win second balls, and to lose like that is sickening.”
