Christian Saydee har i to sesonger nå vært en squad player. Med bare ett år igjen av kontrakten er det nå kansje best for alle parter at han finner seg ny klubb.
NYHETER: Sommeren 2023 ble 21 år gamle Christian Saydee hentet fra Bournemouth for et ikke-offentliggjort beløp. Sesongen endte med at Pompey vant League One. Saydee scoret fire mål på 42 kamper, de fleste som innbytter, i sin første sesong.
Sesongen etter var det Championship-fotball igjen på Pompey. Saydee fikk mye den samme rollen, men spilte litt mindre. Tre mål, deriblant sesongens siste, på 31 kamper ble fasiten på Saydee.
Nå har han bare ett år igjen av sin kontrakt med Pompey. Som han forteller lokalavisa The News ønsker han mer spilletid, og flere scoringer, men han understreker at han er veldig fornøyd med å være i Pompey.
Hovedtrener John Mousinho gir uttrykk for at han er fornøyd med bidragene Saydee har hatt disse to sesongene, men han kan på ingen måte love han mer spilletid kommende sesong. Faktisk siteres han på at for Saydees karriere vil kanskje det beste være å takke ja til en overgang om det rette tilbudet dukket opp. Så da gjenstår det å se hva som skjer i sommer. «In football you always want more, even if you are starting and scoring goals, you still want to score more. I always want to do more, I always have people around me like my big brother Matt (Ritchie), he’s always pushing me.
‘I want to score more goals, I want more playing time, but I know my role in the team and, hopefully if I get the chance to push on, then I can get there in the end. I am happy at Pompey, 100 per cent, I love everyone around it, the best fans in the league, good people around me, the staff, the players are close. I wouldn’t want it any other way.
If I can add to my tally and become more of an impact in the team, starting a few more games, then I’d be even more happy.
The gaffer always lets us know we can be available and things change so quickly. You can be involved for 10 minutes or then start. It’s a very good group, everyone knows their role, everyone is pushing each other to get into the team.»

«Christian’s had a pretty good season. He made the leap from League One, scored pivotal goals, and made key contributions. Even post-injury, he came off the bench and made waves in big matches.
We’re not shoving him out, but if a chance for more minutes comes knocking, it would be wise to consider it.
He might have been a casualty of our style change, but he has proven he belongs in the Championship and has sharpened his footballing skills. It’s about doing right by the player and the club, ensuring what’s best for both.»
