«We’re delighted that Colby has signed a new contract and that a player of his calibre will be at the club for the long-term. He’s been a vital part of what that team have achieved ever since I arrived here and his goalscoring record speaks for itself.
We saw what a boost it gave to everyone inside Fratton Park when he returned for that game against Preston a few months ago. I’ve been impressed with how quickly he has adapted to playing in the Championship because as well his threat in front of goal, he offers so much to the team.”

Colby Bishops kommentarer til kontraktsforlengelsen
«I love it here and have wanted to get this done for a while – to play for Pompey for another three-and-half years is truly a blessing. You don’t get this kind of atmosphere or support at many other clubs around the country. The fans have been great with me.
The manager has been amazing and trusted me week in, week out – and I’ve been able to repay him with performances and goals. From the moment we started last season, I just had a feeling that something special was going to happen.
I like to think I have a big impact in the changing room and am one of the leaders, so want to take any chance I have to help the younger players. I think most strikers – in any league – would be over the moon with 50 goals from 120 games, so I like to think I’ve done pretty well for the club, but there are still ways I can improve. To score more than 20 in each of the past two seasons is also something that I’m obviously really happy about.
That’s (comebackkampen etter operasjonen) probably the most emotional I’ve been on a pitch and I can just remember trying not to cry. It had been a horrific time for me and my family – and I haven’t really had the time to go over it all yet.
You don’t know what’s going to happen – if you’ll play football again or even if it will impact your lifespan – while my missus was heavily pregnant at the time. But I had great people around me – my amazing partner, the lads and my family, and they allowed me to get back to that moment.
To be playing again in three months and seven days is, I think, the quickest it’s ever happened and that’s because of the hard work I put in to return to the team to help us stay in the league. So to come on and score at Fratton Park in front of my family and my baby was just a full circle moment. I’m not sure that will be topped.
The support I’ve had from the fans has been amazing. Words can’t describe how grateful I am and that’s why I’m so happy to sign this contract.”
Three More Years! 🔵⚽🔵
It's great news that we have secured @ColbyBishop29 on an extended contract.
For the few that question his value to the team, he are a few stats for you.
The key stat being we have almost x2.5 more points per game WITH Colby, than without. #Pompey pic.twitter.com/fEjZyiRdEi
