«Isaac is a central midfielder who has a wealth of experience in the Premier League and Championship. He’s extremely comfortable with the ball at his feet and is also very strong defensively, possessing a lot of the attributes we were looking for.

But he’s also a leader both on and off the pitch, so we’re delighted to be able to add him to the squad for the rest of the season.”

Isaac Haydens kommentarer til overgangen

«The interest has been there for a little while now. I spoke with Matty [Ritchie] and obviously the manager and it was something I was drawn to. They’ve said how I can help the team with my experience to try to keep this club in the division – where they’re supposed to be.

I’d like to think I’m a well-rounded player who can do whatever the manager asks of me and I’m here to do my best for Pompey. It doesn’t matter whether I join a new side permanently or loan – I’m 100 per cent invested in the club.

This is quite a young squad and I’ve got experience, so have to try to be one of the leaders in the group and set the tempo in training. I need to be the link between defence and attack, providing a platform for the forwards to show what they can do.

It’s about accountability and making sure we’re all on the same page and fighting for the same thing – winning games for Portsmouth Football Club. I’ve had some difficult months without a lot of game time, so it’s good to get the deal done and am hungry to get playing again. It’s a big transition when you come up a league and it takes time to adapt, but I don’t see why we can’t turn it around.”
