Suksessduoen forlenger med Pompey

De to som av mange får hovedæren for Pompeys comeback til Championship har begge forlenget sine avtaler med klubben.

NYHETER: Portsmouth FC har valgt å forlenge avtalene med hovedtrener John Mousinho og sportsdirektør Riichard Hughes. De to har begge hatt stor suksess etter at de kom til Pompey, og nå er de altså belønnet.

John Mousinho la opp som fotballspiller i Oxford da han fikk hovedtrenerjobben i januar 2023. Han fikk umiddelbart gode resultater. I sin første fulle sesong som hovedtrener, ledet han Pompey til topps i League One og opprykk til Championship i 2023/24.

Nå har både Mousinho og Hughes vært linket til andre klubber, og mange spår at Mousinho er en framtidig Premier League-manager. Mousinhos kontrakt gikk opprinnelig ut 2025/26-sesongen. Nå går den ut 2027/28-sesongen.

 

John Mousinhos kommentarer til kontraktforlengelsen

«I have loved every minute of my time at Pompey so far and am delighted to have agreed an extension to my contract. Winning the League One title last season is, of course, the highlight and now our full focus is on establishing this side in the Championship.

I am grateful to Michael and the board for the faith they have shown in me, the coaching team and players, as well as for the support we continue to receive from our magnificent supporters.”

Hughes sier selv følgende:

«I’m incredibly happy and thankful to have extended my contract with the club. I’m looking forward to continuing to work closely with John and all the staff at Fratton Park as we strive to build on what we’ve achieved over the past few years.

I would like to extend my thanks to Michael, Eric and the board of directors, as well as Andy and Tony, for the continued support and trust I have been shown in my time at the club.»
