Hentet nok en keeper

Pompey hentet tidligere i sommer inn en rutinert keeper i tillegg til førstekeeper Will Norris. Før transfervinduet stengte hentet Pompey også en 27 år gammel østerriksk keeper.

NYHETER: For et ikke offentliggjort beløp kjøpte Pompey den østerrikske keeperen Nicolas Schmid fra BW Linz i august.

Schmid har skrevet under på en toårskontrakt. Pompey har opsjon på ytterligere ett år.

Schmid har foreløpig inntatt rollen som andrekeeper bak Norris. Jordan Archer har ikke vært med i kamptroppene etter Schmid, som har u-landskamper for Østerrike, kom til klubben.

«We’ve added an experienced keeper who’s probably at the peak of his career right now.

He comes having played at the top level of Austrian football and so we’re delighted to have him in the building. Nicolas is an excellent shot-stopper and has a good range of kicking. He adds to what’s already a really strong goalkeeping unit.»

This is a good opportunity for the next step of my career and after a long time in Austria, I’m ready to play in England. It’s been a dream for me to be over here ever since I was a little kid – and now it’s a dream come true.

I’ve actually been over to Portsmouth one time before when I was at school, although one day was not enough time to see the whole city.

The Championship will be hard and stressful, but also very cool and I’m really excited for my first game. I want to prove myself here, like I have in Austria, to get better every single day in the years to come.”
