«Andre brings plenty of Championship experience, having spent the majority of his career at this level. He’s chosen to come here over other options and is someone who has a real ambition to succeed at this club.

Andre is a very technical midfielder and has the athleticism to get around the pitch and compete, so we’re delighted to welcome him to Pompey.”

André Dozzells kommentarer til overgangen

«I’m buzzing because this is such a big club with a lot of history, so I just cannot wait to play in front of the fans. I spoke to a lot of people who said the atmosphere is one of the best they’ve experienced – unfortunately, when I played here, it was during the Covid season.

I also talked with the manager and Rich, and it seems like this is a club on the up, which I want to be a part of. They spoke about the project and the way they see me fitting into the team and that was very important for me.

I like to get on the ball and have as many touches as I can, while passing the ball forward and hopefully adding some goals and assists. Hearing the gaffer speak the way he does about football is something that I can relate to. That was a big factor for me.

I want to make an impact in the short and long-term. This club hasn’t been in the Championship for a while, but there’s no reason why we can’t aim high. We don’t just want to say that the goal is to simply stay up, although we know it’s a very difficult league.

The club was on a winning streak last season. It’s hard to find that in football, so when you do, you’ve got to keep it going.”
