Shaughnessy med ny Pompey-kontrakt

Han kom til Pompey i fjor sommer, men etter en strålende førstesesong er Conor Shaughnessy belønnet med en ny treårskontrakt.

NYHETER: Midtstopperen skrev under på en toårskontrakt da han kom fra Burton Albion foran fjorårssesongen. Pompey hadde opsjon på ytterligere ett år, men 28-åringen var så god for Pompey i 2023/24 at han nå har fått en ny treårskontrakt.

Den nye kontrakten strekker seg altså ut 2026/27-sesongen. Pompey har også opsjon på ytterligere ett år.

Shaughnessy vant et par kåringer av årets spiller forrige sesong – deriblant var han spillernes årets spiller – og han scoret fire mål på 49 kamper i sin første kamp for Pompey. Deriblant noen overtidsscoringer som ble kampavgjørende. Denne mot Barnsley sørget for at Pompey sikret seg League One-tittelen.

Hovedtrener John Mousinhos kommentarer til kontraktforlengelsen

«Conor started 45 out of 46 league games last season and was outstanding for us. He was named in the League One Team of the Year and also chipped in with some really important goals – including, of course, that one against Barnsley.

So we were keen to give him a new deal and are delighted to keep Conor at the club for even longer.”

«I’m over the moon to sign an extension to my contract and there’s no place I’d rather be. To be able to continue my career here is perfect and now I’m exited for the next few years at Pompey.

We’re coming off the back of a great season and I spoke to everyone about the ambition at this club. We are heading in the right direction and so it felt right for me to commit. There’s a real buzz around the place and the set-up here is incredible – now we want to continue to raise the standards.

We have to put away what’s happened in the past and look to build on it. I want to help push this club on again.
