Portsmouth manager John Mousinho:

“I’m really pleased to get all three points – and I think the overall performance meant we deserved them.

“We were the better side, although after a good start to the game, we then dropped off it a bit. That was frustrating for everyone.

“It was probably fair that Cambridge took the lead when they did because we’d been sloppy and lost our shape. There was no composure.

“But as soon as they went ahead, we decided that we were going to show up and play. We got the equaliser and looked likely to get another.

“The lads were then able to carry that on into the second half and took everything that we told them on board.

“Kas deserved his goal and was a real threat. He gives us that cover now he’s back and it’s a luxury to be able to give your top scorer – and one of the best centre-forwards in this league – a rest.

“It was a brilliant strike from Abu and it’s one of the things we’ve been trying to impress on him – take your man on and keep going.

“We didn’t sit deep like we did at the weekend, when we invited a bit of pressure. After going ahead we decided to keep playing and I’m really happy with that.”
