NYHETER: September var en måned mange så for seg at Pompey virkelig skulle få kjørt seg etter en oppløftende sesongstart, men Pompey imponerte stort og vant mot flere av våre rivaler i toppen.
Det ble seier mot Peterborough, Barnsley, Lincoln og Wigan, i tillegg til uavgjort borte mot Derby. Dermed 13 poeng av 15 mulige og John Mousinho ble kåret til månedens manager i League One.
Regan Poole var nominert til månedens spiller, men vant ikke fram. Oxfords Greg Leigh vant den kåringen.
John Mousinhos kommentarer
«It’s great to receive this award on behalf of all the staff and players for our run of positive results throughout September. Three of our five fixtures last month saw us on the road, making long trips to Derby, Barnsley and Wigan.
The fact that we were backed by so many passionate Pompey fans at each of those games is a big reason why we were able to collect seven points from them. We have made a really pleasing start to the season, but are all aware that there is still a very long way to go. Our focus now is on maintaining the high standards that we have set for ourselves.»

«Thirteen points from their five games is an excellent return, especially after playing three of the well-fancied teams in that block. John has created a great spirit around the club which has seen them gain top spot in League One.»

«Portsmouth sit top of the table after a testing fixture list in September. Thirteen points from 15 games, beating Barnsley and Peterborough along the way, is a testament to the quality and organisation of John Mousinho’s team.
It won’t have been part of his plans, but trailing in four of their five games and coming out unbeaten shows that Portsmouth, at this stage, look to have what it takes to make a long-awaited return to the Championship.”
