Vi beholder dermed tabelltoppen i minst to uker.
Kommentarer fra hovedtrener John Mousinho
«We moved the ball far too slowly and when we got forward, we didn’t do it with enough urgency. We were caught in between trying to pass out and going long – and just didn’t do either of them well enough. There are no excuses because we need to be better than that, although there are factors that come into play. After the high of Tuesday night there was a lot of expectation and we were facing a good Port Vale side.
But it’s not rocket science and we just wanted the lads to play with a lot more aggression going forward. When we do that and put the ball into good areas, then we get our rewards – that was the difference between the two halves.
“We were a lot better in everything we did after the break and it felt very comfortable towards the end. It was great for Colby because he does get mauled and the referee did very well in controlling that. His all-round play is incredible and he can sniff out goals.
I thought that Sean (Raggett) and Ben (Stevenson) were probably two of the best players on the pitch in the second half. We saw Kusini get a few minutes – I suppose it was a pretty barren run for him being out there and not scoring! It’s nice to have him back on the fold. Connor Ogilvie wasn’t quite ready. Tuesday’s probably not worth the risk, but we expect to have him back for Carlisle.”

«We weren’t at our best in the first half, but we came out after the break and showed a ruthless edge. We got the two goals and then saw the game out professionally – in the end that’s another really good win.
Port Vale are a significantly better side than they were last season and they caused us a few problems. But we dealt with that and then when we did manage to create some chances, we made sure to put them away.
Colby is always getting manhandled by opposition defenders, so it was nice to see him get a couple of goals. I also had one header that was cleared off the line and then another one that was a great save, so I’m disappointed not score myself.
I really enjoyed being out there. The boys have been flying at the start of the season, so it’s been hard to get games. But I’ve kept working hard in training and this chance has arisen, so I wanted to put in a good performance and get a win. I always want to play – every single person in that changing room wants the same thing. I’m just glad that I didn’t come in and we lost!”
