2023-24: Derby County – Portsmouth 1-1

Colby Bishop sørget med sin overtidsscoring borte mot Derby for at vi fortsatt er ubseiret i League One denne sesongen.

Pompey så ut til å gå mot et ufortjent tap da Derby scoret på straffespark etter at et innlegg skiftet retning før det traff en Pompey-arm. Dette få minutter før full tid.

Denne sesongens Pompey-lag nekter derimot å tape, og langt på overtid utlignet Colby Bishop. Dermed 1-1 og et sterkt poeng borte mot en av opprykksfavorittene.

Tirsdag venter en ny tøff bortekamp. Da mot tabellnabo Barnsley.

Et hurtig ligaoverblikk

Pompey er det eneste ubeseirede laget i League One, men ettersom fire av sju kamper har endt uavgjort står Pompey med «kun»13 poeng etter sju serierunder. Det betyr 6. plass. Vi er ett av fire lag, på plassene 5-8, med 13 poeng. De andre er Barnsley, Bolton og Wycombe.

Exeter City, som tapte på Fratton Park tidligere i høst, leder League One, med Port Vale, som startet sesongen med å tape 7-0 mot Barnsley er på 2. plass. De står begge med 16 poeng. Exeter har spilt én kamp mer enn oss.

I tillegg har vi Oxford og Stevenage foran oss. Begge de har 15 poeng. Stevenage har også spilt én kamp mer.

Helt nederst finner vi Burton, Cheltenham og Fleetwood på de tre siste plassene. De står med fattige to, to og ett poeng etter sju serierunder. Like foran dem ligger Reading og Wigan, som begge har fått en del minuspoeng.

«It was a brilliant point given the circumstances, but as we settle down it will feel more like two that we’ve dropped. The amount of chances we had – particularly in the second half – and the way we played meant we deserved to win the game. I can’t remember Will Norris being tested too much and I was furious with the penalty that was awarded.

But I’m proud of the belief shown by the boys to get back into it – the only downside is that we’re not coming home with all three points. Terry Devlin missed a good chance after coming on for his league debut, but he didn’t let his head drop and set up our goal.

We were sloppy in possession the first half and I didn’t have to say a huge amount at the break because they knew. So we need to start games a bit better, not waiting for things to happen, and also be more ruthless in front of goal.

«So far this season it just never feels like we’re actually beaten and we always retained that belief. It looked like a harsh penalty decision that went against us and I thought we were the better team throughout. It can be difficult when those things go against you, but we didn’t give up and got our reward for that.

“I don’t really know what happened for the goal. The ball just came in and I needed to get a touch on it – thankfully, it went in. We looked good again and in the past couple of games, have played some lovely football. It feels like it’s clicking.

I just feel we have to be a bit better in certain moments during matches to be able to break sides down. But we know it’s a good team we have this season and the mentality that’s in the dressing room is brilliant.

I was at Derby’s academy from the ages of seven to 15 and obviously also a Forest fan all the way through. So I’ve been to Pride Park many a time and always felt that it would be nice to score at the ground. It’s a good feeling.
