Abu Kamara er det ellevte nye ansigt denne sommer.

Den 19-årige spids, der fylder 20 på fredag, har været hos The Canaries siden han var ti år. Han nåede tre indhop for førsteholdet i foråret, men er nu klar til karrierens første udlån i jagten på mere spilletid samt erfaring. Kamara startede som fløj, blev rykket ned som venstre back, derefter op som offensiv midtbanespiller, men har altså nu fundet en formentlig permanent rolle som angriber. Han betegnes som en løbestærk teamspiller, der gerne forsøger sig med skud også fra distancen. Lånet gælder sæsonen ud, og han har fået tildelt rygnummer 25.

Mousinho om Kamara:

“Abu is an exciting young prospect, who can play across the front line. He’s got a really good goalscoring record for Norwich’s development side and has also made some appearances for their first team. Now he comes here and will be competing for a place at League One level. We’re absolutely thrilled to have him. The challenge for him is prove himself and break into our side – this can be a springboard for the rest of his career.”

Kamara om skiftet til Pompey:

“It’s great and feels like this was needed in my career – to get regular game time and test myself against men. I had a Zoom call with the manager and sporting director – everything they said just appealed to me. It was a no-brainer. I’m expecting to be a better player when I come out of this spell, having worked on my all-round game and learnt from a few of the lads here. There will be a physical challenge after coming out of under-21s football, but I believe I’m good enough to do that. I like getting on the ball and also running in behind to finish off chances. I’m a composed player in front of goal and good in 1v1 situations. Honestly, I want to get a promotion medal and feel like Pompey is the right club to be at in order to get that.»
