Henter back fra Exeter City

«Jack’s an exciting talent who enjoyed a huge amount of success in helping Exeter get promoted to League One a couple of seasons ago. We think that he’s ready to kick on, fitting the age and profile of player that we’re looking to bring to the club and develop.

He’s a really versatile left-sided player and has good attacking qualities that complement what we already have in the building. Jack’s still only young, but played a lot of games for Exeter last season in a side that performed really well at this level.

So he already has plenty of experience despite his age. There’s a lot of promise there and we’re delighted to welcome him to Pompey.”

Jack Sparkes’ kommentarer til overgangen

«This is a big club to come to and when that offer was on the table, it was something I really wanted to do. To hopefully be part of something special and get Pompey promoted to the Championship is a massive attraction.

In order to improve myself, it was important that I found somewhere new and this is the right place for me. My best attributes are crossing and shooting. I like to get balls into the box to create chances, but can also do the defensive work as well.

There are a lot of challenges – I’m moving away with a young family and have to get to know all the lads. I also want to get the best out of myself. But there’s a big fanbase here and it’s a club that should be higher in the leagues, so it’s something that excites me.

It’s important for me to come here ready to start pre-season strongly, so after a couple of weeks of downtime, I’ve been hitting the training hard. We’ve got a trip planned to Spain and that’s a good chance for me to meet all the lads and really settle in. I want to make a big impact here at Pompey and play as many games as I possibly can to help the team.”
