26 år gammel midtbanespiller har skrevet toårskontrakt med Pompey.

NYHETER: Ben Stevenson kommer gratis til Pompey etter at hans kontrakt med Forest Green Rovers gikk ut ved sesongslutt. Forest Green Rovers rykket ned fra League One, men Stevenson blir altså ikke med Duncan Fergusons lag ned en divisjon.

Pompeys hovedtrener John Mousinho sier følgende om signeringen av Stevenson:

«We’re bringing in a player who covers all the positions in the middle of the park. He’s a really good footballer and an excellent character as well, so we’re delighted to have him at Pompey.

Ben will be looking to add a few more goals and assists to his game, but he’s got all the attributes we’re looking for. I think he complements the guys we already have in the building and has an important role to play off the pitch, as well as on it.”

«You say the word ‘Portsmouth’ and it’s a no-brainer – this is an absolutely massive club and everyone knows it. I jumped at the opportunity and I’m really excited to be here. The ultimate aim is to get promoted and that matches my ambitions.

I’m not a young player anymore, but I still have the same hunger – if anything, I’m even hungrier to achieve more. This is the perfect place for me to hopefully go to the next level. It’s a strong, competitive league and I’m sure we’re capable of taking a step forward. I played here before, but that was during Covid, so there were no fans and I was disappointed at the time.

“But people I’ve spoken to a few people who have said the atmosphere is great and I can’t wait to see what that looks like. I like to get on the ball and play, although I’ve also learnt how to mix it up when needed over the years. I’ll keep things ticking and try to progress the team forward.»
