Uavgjort og to poeng for lite for John Mousinhos Pompey – for fjerde gang på de fem siste kampene.
Det blir for mye uavgjort, og derfor blir det ikke play-off på Pompey i år. Fire ganger på de fem siste kampene har Pompey spilt uavgjort, og en sitter med følelsen av at Pompey burde vunnet alle disse. Det er åtte poeng tapt, og når det er seks poeng for Pompey opp til play-off (med fire serierunder igjen) sier det seg selv at dette koster Pompey dyrt.
Spillerne og trenerteamet vil nok ikke gi opp play-off før det er teoretisk umulig, men ikke bare er Pompey seks poeng bak play-off. En må også passere tre lag. Det går ikke på fire kamper – selv om vi skal møte to av disse lagene i sesonginnspurten.

Plymouth og Ipswich tok et stort steg mot direkte opprykk da de vant mot henholdsvis Exeter og Charlton lørdag. Ipswich vant til og med hele 6-0 etter blant annet tre mål av tidligere Pompey-spiller Conor Chaplin.
Sheffield Wednesday tapte borte mot Burton og er på 3. plass. De er bare to og ett poeng bak de to topplagene, men de har kun fire seriekamper igjen. Plymouth og Ipswich har fem kamper igjen.
Barnsley på 4. plass ender på play-off. Bak dem er det mer åpent. Det var en god dag for Bolton som vant borte mot Oxford. Peterborough og Wycombe tapte sine kamper, mens Derby spilte uavgjort. Dermed har Bolton 71 poeng på 5. plass (og fem kamper igjen), Peterborough 70 poeng på 6. plass, Derby County 69 poeng på 7. plass, Wycombe 65 poeng på 8. plass og Pompey har 64 poeng på 9. plass.
Pompey møter Derby borte i nest siste serierunde. Wycombe hjemme i siste serierunde.
I bunn er Forest Green Rovers klare for nedrykk. De er klart sist med sine 26 poeng. Under streken er også Cambridge, Morecambe og Accrington Stanley. Oxford er like over streken – kun målforskjell foran Cambridge. Morecambe ligger dårlig an med kun tre kamper igjen. De andre nevnte lagene har fem kamper igjen.

«It’s a disappointing one – not just the result, but also the performance, which wasn’t up to scratch. In the end we’ve come away with what we deserved because there was a lot of endeavour, but we didn’t show enough quality in possession when we were in the final third.
I know that we’ve got players on the pitch who can do that – we’ve seen it over the past 10-12 weeks. Something we have to work on as a coaching unit and a team is that we didn’t come alive until going 1-0 down. I know that Shrewsbury dropped off naturally, but we also stepped up a couple of notches and we have do it from the start.
You can’t just look to stay in the game and wait for something to happen, although we could have won it in the end. We haven’t been properly punished and we’re in still sight of sixth, but I think we’ll rue the opportunities we’ve missed over the past few matches.
There were two really strong penalty shouts – the first on Reeco when the defender hauled him down and that’s given anywhere else on the pitch. The other one is on Connor and Chey Dunkley is late on him. The explanation from the fourth official is that there’s momentum and there will always be contact after the ball goes away.
My reply to him was that’s exactly what a foul is – and it’s what Marlon was booked for in the first half. Because it’s in a box there seems to be a much higher threshold for decisions, but a there shouldn’t be. We can’t come away blaming the officials for why we haven’t won, though, because we have to do more to make sure we’re not relying on those moments.”
