Pompey tapte to poeng på tampen.
Portsmouth hadde alle de tre poengene halvveis nede i lommen da Barnsley scoret på et langt innkast like før slutt. Dermed ble det nok et uavgjortresultat for hjemmelaget. Isolert sett ingen katastrofe, men man klatrer ikke på tabellen med ett poeng på hjemmebane. Dermed måtte en skuffet manager John Mousinho fastslå at det føltes som et tap.
Colby Bishop scoret sitt 16. mål for sesongen tidlig i 2. omgang og han fikk dessuten annullert et mål litt tidligere i kampen. Pompey hadde nok de fleste sjansene, men de hadde også en porsjon flaks. Barnsley utlignet nemlig, men dommeren hadde blåst for frispark i favør av gjestene like før de fikk satt ballen i mål. Ingen god vurdering av dommeren der, som burde brukt fordelsparagrafen. Bortelagets spillere var forståelig nok rasende.
En rask titt på tabellen
Shrewsbury, Wycombe og Peterborough er lagene som ligger mellom Portsmouth og den siste playoffplassen, som Barnsley fortsatt klamrer seg fast til. Dessverre for Pompey så vant alle disse lagene, så motbakken opp til playoff ble enda litt brattere. Barnsley beholdt selvfølgelig sitt 9 poengs forsprang ned til Pompey, så det er mye som skal klaffe om Mousinho sine menn skal ende opp i topp 6 ved sesongslutt. Det eneste lille lyspunktet var vel at Charlton slo Exeter slik at Portsmouth krøp opp til en 10. plass. Tendensen i spillet har i det minste vært såpass positive at det er lov å håpe på gode resultater fremover. Men skal det være noe som helst realisme i opprykksdrømmen må kamper som dette omsettes i tre poeng.
