Den over to meter høye keeperen Matt Macey (28) er Pompeys nye førstekeeper.
NYHETER: John Mousinho hadde så vidt blitt annonsert som ny Pompey-manager (hovedtrener) da den første signeringen under Mousinhos ledelse var i boks.
Luton-keeperen Matt Macey har skrevet under på en kontrakt med Pompey ut sesongen etter at Pompey og Luton var blitt enige om en utlånsavtale.
Den 28 år gamle keeperen er hele 2,01 meter høy og har mange år i Arsenal bak seg. I Arsenal var han med og vant FA-cupen (satt på benken i finalen), men han fikk aldri spilt en tellende kamp for førstelaget. Han har spilt en del for Hibernian i den skotske toppserien. Ellers er det kamper på utlån til lag i lavere divisjon på 28-åringen.
Macey kom til Luton fra Hibernian i fjor, men har ikke klart å bryte gjennom for Championship-laget.

«I’m delighted to be here and really looking forward to playing for Pompey – it was a great opportunity that came up. This is such a big club and one with a great fanbase. A new head coach has also come in, so it’s exciting times.
There’s a lot of positivity around the place and that was the case when I spoke with him about the move. That certainly helped me to make the decision that I definitely want to be here at Portsmouth Football Club. I’m looking forward to the chance to play regular football again and experience the atmosphere at Fratton Park.
People always notice my size and I like to take the pressure off the other boys as much as I can by coming for crosses. I want to bring a bit of calmness to the back-line and obviously try to make sure the ball stays out the back of the net.»
