Lee Brown til AFC Wimbledon

Vår rutinerte venstreback Lee Brown er klar for AFC Wimbledon. Han går gratis til vår League One-rival.

NYHETER: Han var vår visekaptein og han har vært mer eller mindre fast på venstrebacken de siste sesongene. Den siste tiden har derimot Danny Cowley foretrukket Reeco Hackett framfor Lee Brown ettersom Pompey har spilt med vingbacker i stedet for backer i en forsvarsfirer.

Med en kontrakt som går ut i sommer, og sannsynligvis med en god kontrakt, ble Pompey enige med Brown om å avslutte kontraktsforholdet slik at han kan gå gratis til en ny klubb nå. Den nye klubben blir AFC Wimbledon. Vår League One-rival får dermed en god venstreback gratis.

31 år gamle Brown spilte 131 kamper og scoret seks mål – inkludert to mot AFC Wimbledon forrige sesong – for Pompey etter at han kom fra Bristol Rovers sommeren 2018.

 

Danny Cowleys kommentar

-I had a really honest conversation with Lee, who was coming out of contract with us this summer. There was naturally a lot of interest in him from other clubs because he’s an experienced player and a great character – both on and off the pitch.

– So there’s a lot for us to thank Lee for and it’s a really good move for him. I’ve got no doubt that he’ll do a good job of helping to develop the youngsters at Wimbledon. It’s a move that works for all parties and we obviously wish him nothing but success moving forward.

– I live local and my grandad used to support Wimbledon, my father-in-law supported Wimbledon. I know the story well, I’m a local boy, as such, and I’m really excited to come!

– It feels good to come to a club with such great history. It’s one that I’ve watched from afar. Now that I’m in the building it’s something I want to get my teeth into and be a part of moving forward. There’s been a few twists and turns, but the transfer happened quite quickly. It’s over the line now and hopefully we can look forward.”
