2019-20: Portsmouth – Peterborough 2-2

Unødvendigt pointtab i topkampen.

Portsmouth manager Kenny Jackett:

“I’ve got mixed emotions because it was quite a good performance from us and one which saw us on top.

“But Peterborough have those players up front who get them goals and they don’t need many chances to score.

«I thought we showed good spirit and commitment and really took the game to our opponents, which is something we always set out to do.»

“The front pair got one each and I can’t think of many other opportunities they had, but they can turn matches.

“I thought we showed good spirit and commitment and really took the game to our opponents, which is something we always set out to do.

“There was a lot of endeavour and the work-rate – which always has to be there – is improving all the time.

“From a neutral’s perspective it was an excellent contest and end-to-end times, with both sides setting out to attack.

“It has to be a balance, though. Last season we were the second top scorers in our division and now we have to go back to zeroes and ones in the other column.

“Sometimes you’re very pleased with a point, but this one does have some frustrations as well because I felt there was a win there for us.”

Peterborugh manager Darren Ferguson:

Pleased to avoid defeat yesterday and we played well enough for the point but it’s always disappointing when I choose an opposition man of the match award. Dan Butler was the man yesterday. Assisted both goals and what a delivery for the 2nd. Good to see him doing well #Pompey

Most of our defensive players frees in summer & most of them average Lg 1 players & the fact Kenny has little confidence in new defensive signings. Could be busy window with quite a few in & out at back. Stick or twist, knowing Kennys approach it will be stick 2/2 #pompey

When Sunderland sacked Jack Ross #Pompey fans were hailing the Sunderland board saying we should also make a change. Since they appointed Parkinson their record is W2 D3 L7. Our record is W8 D3 L0

#Pompey How many more points we going to drop due to shut defending? KJ and management this is your shocking tactics and previous crap transfer windows why we keep dropping points. Not Hawkins hes doing his best but he shouldn’t be in that position.

#pompey another game unbeaten and a good point. Hoping we get backed in the transfer window defo need CM and CD to push on can’t knock the team for effort though if they put in a shift but only get a point no one can ask for more PUP

‘It wasn’t Nathan Thompson who inflicted a painful reminder of his talents, rather a defender shown the #Pompey door four-and-a-half years ago – Dan Butler.’
