2018-19: Portsmouth – Peterborough 2-3

And now to something completly different.

#Pompey Fans should stop blaming the ref. Yes, he was shit, but don’t overlook the 2 counter attacks we outnumbered the goalkeeper were we could of won the game. Players got to take the blame for bottling it. Just hope they can accept they failed and push on in the play offs.

What a game !! The moaners will moan the haters will hate, but the boys gave 100% and that’s why we had the result we did. Both sides battled after some professional time wasting but we’ve all done it. Dust down and focus #pompey #EFL #pup

#Pompey fans if you’re feeling shit this morning, it’s nothing compared to how we’re going to feel if we don’t go up via the play offs!

Great to see #Pompey come back from 2-goals down and nearly win the game. Unlucky yesterday

@VivSolomon17 with the offside goal Thought you played really well last night

Fancy us in the playoffs. Let’s secure 3rd on Saturday and back the team.

Honestly think the players have given it all this season. It’s a tough ask when injuries and loan recalls mean you have to build again in January, and it has cost us, but you can’t say anyone in this team hasn’t pulled their weight. We go again. 3 cup finals. We got this. #Pompey

Don’t understand how people believe Viv is a good player. Not only did he mess up the goal which I add needed to control somehow but also had clear run at goal but messed that up as well, the guy can’t cross or pass literally just has pace that’s it. #pompey

Uncharacteristic performance from #Pompey last night. A little bit too “gung-ho” for my liking and it cost us. Play was very “frantic” as KJ put it and Posh exploited the gaps clinically. Maddison my MOTM everything went through him and Brown couldn’t handle him. Go again #Pompey

Portsmouth manager Kenny Jackett:

‘Defensively, I don’t think we did badly, but we were stretched. We lacked the time control, we perhaps were trying to go forward too early too many times, particularly in that period where we didn’t have enough process.

‘I didn’t think our shape was right and, in terms of the accuracy of our passing and the control of our passing, that wasn’t right either.

‘We were playing frantic football for the last 30 minutes and I don’t think it gave us enough in terms of control.

‘‘After Peterborough scored their third, we perhaps went too far in, too quickly, and over committed and got quite frantic with our play, barring Ben Close.

‘He had quite a good amount of control throughout the game and we did need that. It is very, very important that we get more control to our play when we need that.

‘We did very well to get it back into it and, at 2-2, were looking forward to the big finish and trying to do everything we could to try to get that win.

‘The players were not lacking effort or attitude at all, but we did lack control.’
