Pompey tabte 2-1 ude mod Bristol City og fortsatte dermed den skuffende stime på Ashton Gate.
Pompey havde gode perioder i første halvleg, men Laurent Tolaj bragte Bristol City foran efter 31 minutter.
Efter pausen øgede Jason Knight til 2-0 med et stærkt hovedstød efter et hjørnespark.
Pompey kom frem til flere lovende situationer, men havde svært ved at skabe de helt store chancer.
Indskiftede Marko Milovanović reducerede dybt i overtiden på straffespark og scorede dermed sit første mål for klubben.

“It was a really frustrating afternoon for us after Bristol City came out of the traps strongly and we weathered the early storm.
“We were then well in control for around half-an-hour, without being spectacular, and I had no issues with the performance whatsoever.
“If you come away from home and control the game, even if we could have created a bit more, then it’s pretty positive.
“But then we conceded a goal at a poor time, then another after the break and after that it was just too little, too late.
“We went away with what we’ve been trying to work on and it was something I highlighted at half time, so we have to get that right quickly.
“It was a good end to the match from us and it’s just a shame there wasn’t more time after the penalty to build some momentum,
“We’ve come here in the past two years and it’s been disastrous, but we weren’t way off it on this occasion. There are still so many aspects of the game that we have to improve on quickly, though.”

We knew it was going to be a tough one and that we had to be at it – especially after what happened last season.
“I thought we were well in the game for the majority of the afternoon, but the two goals we conceded were avoidable and that’s what is so frustrating.
“It’s difficult to come back after that, although we kept believing that we could get back into it and just didn’t have enough time after the penalty.
“There’s a quick turnaround for us, though, and the game against Derby on Tuesday evening is one to look forward to.
“It’s a great opportunity for us to bounce back as a team and there are a lot of new lads in the squad, so we’re still coming together and bonding.”

Simply not good enough to do more than finish just above the relegation zone again, might just sum up where the squad is at. Got all excited with a few extra £s being spent, but the better teams spent more. Same old… Early days but difficult to be optimistic in all honesty.
