Henter ny unggutt fra Nord-Irland

Pompey hadde stor suksess med å hente den unge nordiren Terry Devlin sommeren 2023. Nå har Pompey signert en ny unggutt fra Nord-Irland.

NYHETER: Sommeren 2023 hentet Pompey den nordirske u-landslagsspilleren Terry Devlin. Han har blitt en stor suksess og fikk sitt store gjennombrudd i 2025/26. Da ble han kåret til årets Pompey-spiller og fikk flere A-landskamper.

Nå har Pompey signert en ny nordirsk u-landslagsspiller. Den 20 år gamle angrepsspilleren Eoin Kenny er kjøpt fra den irske klubben Dundalk og har skrevet under på en treårskontrakt med Pompey. Overgangssummen er ikke offentliggjort.

Kenny er sønn av den tidligere irske A-landslagstreneren Stephen Kenny og har også spilt for det irske U19-landslaget. Men han kvalifiserer også for det nordirske landslaget og debuterte i 2025 for det nordirske U21-landslaget.

– We’re delighted to welcome Eoin to the club and I’m excited to see him continue the impressive development he has made over the past few years. We feel that he can do exactly that in this environment and has all the attributes you need to succeed in the Championship.

– He’s a young attacking player who is capable of getting fans off their seats with the way he likes to take on opposition defenders, sier Pompeys hovedtrener John Mousinho.

«He’s going over to the Championship. It’s a big club, Portsmouth, I played for them myself.  It’s a wonderful city, a wonderful place to play your football, very intense. They sell out most weeks and the stand is right on top of you.

It will be something he’s probably never experienced, playing football there with the kind of aura around the football club and how much it means to the fans. The city lives and breathes the club, so it’s going to be a great experience for him.”
