Supporterfavoritten fortsetter

Connor Ogilvie fortsetter sin karriere på Fratton Park.

NYHETER: Det tok noen uker fra han ble tilbudt kontrakt til den ble signert, men da Connor Ogilvie kom hjem fra ferie signerte han en ny toårskontrakt med Pompey.

Forsvarsspilleren kom fra Gillingham sommeren 2021 da Pompey var i League One. Det er fem år siden og Ogilvie er nå den spilleren i Pompeys spillerstall som har vært lengst i Pompey.

Nå har han spilt nesten 200 kamper for Pompey, de fleste på venstrebacken. Med sin energifulle spillestil, kontakten med fansen og det faktum at han nesten aldri spiller en svak kamp har han blitt en supporterfavoritt. Han har vist seg som en målfarlig forsvarsspiller og han har tatt overgangen fra League One til Championship langt bedre enn mange fryktet.

Nå har 30-åringen skrevet under på en ny toårskontrakt med Pompey. Den går altså fram til sommeren 2028

«It’s been five years now, I’m settled and have loved my time down here, so I’m really happy to get this done. The little man is Portsmouth mad and looks forward to the weekend when he can get down to Fratton. He has all the kits, posters and all sorts in his bedroom. He’s a massive fan.

I feel like I’ve developed a lot as a player after arriving when I was 25 – I think that I’ve got better with age. The gaffer has been a big part of that and it suits me the way he wants to play, as does having Josh Murphy in front of me.

The standout is definitely the promotion season – especially the Barnsley night – and also just securing our status in the Championship. That’s another big achievement and it’s about building on that now, so hopefully we can kick on over these next two years.

We were in a tough spot for a bit last season, but always believed we’d get out of it and had the right characters in the group. It’s been nice to have a bit of time off to rest with my family and now I’m ready to come back and hit the ground running.”
