Damelaget forblir et profflag i 2026/27

Etter to sesonger i Championship, ble det nedrykk på Pompeys damelag i år. Nå er det klart at Eisner-familien vil opprettholde satsingen.

NYHETER: Damelaget til Pompey rykket opp til Championship (nivå 2) samtidig som herrelaget. I 2024/25 klarte begge lagene å berge plassen, men i 2025/26 var det bare herrelaget som beholdt plassen. Damelaget rykket ned og skal kommende sesong spille på nivå 3: National League Southern Premier Division.

Nedrykket har ført til usikkerhet rundt hva som vil skje framover med Pompeys damelag. Etter to sesonger med profesjonelle spillere var det på ingen måte en selvfølge at det kunne fortsette nå etter nedrykket. Men nå har Pompey kommet med en pressemelding der budskapet er: Portsmouth FC Women are delighted to announce that the team will retain their full-time professional status for the 2026/27 season.

Både spillerne, hovedtrener Jay Sadler og hans trenerteam vil bli tilbudt profesjonelle kontrakter også kommende sesong.

Det er Eisner-familien, som eier Portsmouth FC, som finansierer dette ettersom tilskuddene og inntektene blir langt lavere utenfor Championship. Så gjenstår det å se om denne satsingen fører til at Pompeys damelag rykker opp igjen til Championship ved første forsøk.

Despite relegation, and the consequential withdrawal of substantial central funds from the WSL, the decision to remain professional represents a significant investment from our owners.
