2025-26: Norwich City – Portsmouth 1-1

“It feels like a big point because of where we are and the fact that a couple of weeks ago I was speaking on the back of a 6-1 defeat. That was our lowest point of the season, so to go a goal behind and fight back in the way that we did was pleasing. We put so much pressure on Norwich in the second half, while we defended well and managed the final stages. Our hosts have so much quality and if they score by tearing you apart then you have to live with it, but the way we conceded was disappointing. We had plenty of chances in the first half, though, and just needed to make sure that we showed a bit more attacking quality. The most important thing was that we stayed in the game and remained positive in what we were trying to do.”

“We’ve spoken extensively before about not scoring in those matches when we have a lot of set-pieces, but we looked a lot better this time and were very threatening. I’m not sure how we didn’t find the net from that scramble in the first half and Marlon had a good opportunity as well. So it was great that we managed to score on this occasion – I think quite a few were trying to claim it, but it’s gone down as an own-goal!”

Et par ord fra Regan Poole

“We needed to be more compact and aggressive after the last game – and I thought that’s exactly what we did. It wasn’t our best performance of the season, but we had a job to do and we did it. The quality is still a bit short in the final third and yet we did enough to get something. Norwich are a quality side on a great run of form, although if there was one team that deserved to come away with a win at the end then it was us. We fell behind, but didn’t go under like we did at QPR before the international break and instead bounced back. A theme of the season for us has been those narrow defeats where we’ve applied pressure and the goal just hasn’t come. You can dominate as many games as you like, but it doesn’t really matter if you’re not picking up points. We knew that. But this time we did score, so we need to make sure it’s a turning point for us and that we start playing with a bit more belief. We need to do whatever we can to keep this club in the Championship and that’s a good start to this final run of eight games. It’s a great group that’s here and we believe we’ve got enough about us to stay up. We haven’t got as many points as we should have, so have to fight to get over the line.”
