Hovedtrener John Mousinhos kommentarer etter kampen
«In the circumstances – with the injuries we have and needing to shuffle things around – it was a good point. But we’re also feeling slightly disappointed not to collect all three because of the way we finished the game.
If we’re looking at the entire match, though, and the number of chances created, then I think a draw was probably the fair result. We were the side who looked more likely to get a winner, although naturally the onus was on us as the home team. We’re always going to be frustrated at conceding from our own free-kick and we should have been more organised in that area.
But this wasn’t a game that was defined by tactics, it was very much going to be defined by those small moments. We defended set-pieces well, which was a real positive, and we did well from the second phase to score our equaliser. Ebou wanted to get that ball and it’s ended up in the back of the net.
It was an amazing occasion and felt very different to the game back in September – with the aggression and the way it was played, it felt like a proper derby. I thought the referee did very well with the way he managed things and overall it was a great contest to be involved in.”
Forsvarsspiller Zak Swansons kommentarer etter kampen
«I found out on Saturday that I’d be playing there (centre back) because Regan wasn’t fit enough to start the game. From then on I just had to keep my focus and get on with it. I think I’m only missing striker, number 10 and goalie for Pompey!
I’m someone who will always try to adapt to whatever position I’m selected in because I just want to be out there playing. I want to represent this club and will happily go anywhere, but it’s disappointing to see your friends get injured.
When they do, though, someone else has to make the step up. That’s what it’s all about and people are taking those opportunities. We’re a little bit disappointed not to win the match because we had control in parts, although it was scrappy.
The most frustrating thing is that the goal we conceded came from our own set-piece, which shouldn’t happen. But the boys showed great character and fight to get back into it – and there was only one team trying to win the game at the end.
We’ve looked a lot better from defensive set-plays recently and now we’ve put one in at the other end of the pitch. Anyone who’s played against Ebou knows what he brings to the team and he was absolutely massive for us. He’s a leader and wants to help everyone.”
