Sommerens første kjøp

Adrian Segečić er Pompeys første kjøp før 2025/26-sesongen.

NYHETER: Den 21 år gamle vingen/angrepsspilleren er Pompeys første spillerkjøp i sommer. Segecic har skrevet under på en treårskontrakt med Pompey og blir med det Pompeys fjerde spiller i spillerstallen fra Australia.

Han regnes som en svært målfarlig spiller og ble faktisk delt toppscorer i den australske toppdivisjonen forrige sesong med hele 18 mål.

Kom gratis ettersom hans kontrakt med Sydney FC nå gikk ut, men klubben får det som beskrives som et betydelig sekssifret beløp i kompensasjon.

«Adrian is a really exciting young player – one of the hottest prospects coming out of Australia at the moment. He was top scorer in the A-League last season and collected plenty of individual awards, while gaining recognition further afield as well. We’ve already had some success with bringing people over from that part of the world and we hope that Adrian can now make a real impact at Pompey.

He’s very attack-minded and is happy as a winger or in the number 10 role. He’s creative and plays with plenty of energy, so we’re delighted to have him here with us.”

«It’s an unbelievable feeling to be here and to get settled in, so now I just can’t wait to get started. It’s been a big week with getting all the paperwork and flights sorted, then the long journey over, so now I’m happy to be in Portsmouth

When I learnt that Pompey were interested, I was keen to have a discussion with the gaffer and then I heard about the fans and Fratton Park. There were other clubs that I spoke to, but after chatting with John and Rich there was really no going back.

I was previously in Holland for a year and it’s much easier coming to England and not having the language barrier, so everything has been smooth. I was expecting it to be dark and gloomy, but I think that I’ve brought the weather over with me from Sydney! This is an unbelievable city and the photos don’t do it justice, so I’m keen to get around the place and meet the supporters.

Hayden (Matthews) and I had been together for nine years and I’ve been in national teams with the other two boys. I had an unbelievable last season and didn’t expect to play as much as I did, but that’s led me to a club like this.”
