2015-16 Portsmouth – Wimbledon 0-0

Mangen en fan må have været lidt ambivalente.

Pompey manager Paul Cook:

‘We aren’t winning enough at home but there is a long way to go yet.

‘If people want to get down I have no problems with that.

‘We have enough quality to win a game but you can see the tension coming into us at the end of the game.

‘Adam Webster comes forward late on and puts the ball out. You can see it happening.

‘It’s a big time now, so let’s all get behind the team if we can.

‘If anyone doesn’t want to do that it’s fine by me but we’ll keep going.

‘The players have to get the fans up for it.

‘We started the game well but then we drifted off it.

‘We haven’t really had the confidence at home yet that goals can give you. You have to be strong and have a mentality to play in front of our supporters.

‘It’s my job to generate that culture.’

Wimbledon boss Neil Ardley:

“The whole back four and the goalkeeper were solid. I was glad that they got a clean sheet. We defended brilliantly, including the players in front of the back four too. The midfielders were tigerish and we are happy because it’s a good point on the road. We did not come here for a point, we came here to win, but we have come away with a draw. We also had moments when I thought we could have nicked it.

“We have given them respect because they have good players in good areas, but I thought it was an even game. I know ‘Cooky’ has been frustrated with a lot of teams playing one up front and parking the bus, but today we played two up front with one in the hole behind so it doesn’t get any braver than that. We came here and played a diamond formation and tried to hurt them. We didn’t come here to sit back and I think that showed.”

Kick it at the goal. Stop playing Hollands. Kick it at the goal. Stop playing Hollands. Kick it at the goal. Stop playing Hollands. Kick it at the goal. Stop playing Hollands. Kick it at the goal. Stop playing Hollands. Kick it at the goal. Stop playing Hollands. Kick it at the goal. Stop playing Hollands. Kick it at the goal. Stop playing Hollands. Kick it at the goal. Stop playing Hollands.

Let’s not forget where we were, where we are now and where we’re going. It takes a while to build a team. We’re only just getting into the season and our two upfront on Sat have not played a competitive game together. It will come good. Keep the faith in the team and in PC.

I said to my aged father that we would stroll the second-half playing against the wind. I know it’s not ‘pure football’ but a long ball over the top that didn’t run through the keeper would have had McNulty roasting Robinson time and time again. This is a simple game that we’re guilty of trying to be too clever at playing

I think the problem is the system cook wants to play when he came here. He has bought in players that he wants to groom to his idea’s and i’m afraid they cannot cope or understand it. I also think cook has a bit of arrogance when changing the system to 442 to please the fans, then cancels that out by playing 2 defensive midfielders, so he can say well iv’e tried it the fans way and it didn’t work, sorry cook we fans are not that stupid, put your best attacking side out and let them run riot, while you sit down and keep your mouth shut.

Another frustrating home match, im just hoping that Cook doesn’t get hounded out of Fratton Park because all is not perfect in a space of a few months, starting to remind me a little of Tony Pulis reign at Pompey, made improvements, turned a club/team that had a losing habit into one that doesn’t!…. i believe whatever happens Cook will go onto manage at a much higher level than league 2, im hoping its with us!
