“In terms of forward options, I felt we needed an experienced player and Brett’s someone with a record of scoring goals and winning promotion. It wasn’t quite working for him at Ipswich, so we’ve been working hard to bring him down.

Being a south coast lad, he fits the bill for us. His brain takes him into dangerous areas and he has good touch and awareness. When he does get chances, he has a useful habit of finishing them. We’re delighted that he’s here with a few weeks of pre-season still to go, as we build up to the Rochdale game.”

Et par ord fra Brett Pitman
“Coming back to the south coast is nice and this is a big club, so it’s something I’m really looking forward to. I had a good chat with the manager at Ipswich and we both decided that it was time for me to move on. But I don’t see this as a drop down – I see it as an opportunity to push on and hopefully get promoted again.

When I went back to Bournemouth I signed a three-year contract and we were in League One, but when I left they were in the Premier League – who’s to say that can’t happen again? This is too big a club for League Two and arguably it’s too big for League One, so our collective aim has to be to go up to the next level.”
